In my intro to educational technology class I hope to learn things that will help me in my future career. I aspire to be an elementary school teacher and would like to learn ways to integrate technology in my classroom. I think that the topics covered in this class are important since there is a huge rise in technology in this day and age and being able to use it to help students learn would be beneficial to not only me as the teacher, but also my students. Hopefully, this class makes me more prepared fro my future in working with kids.

Throughout my years of being a student, technology has been used almost every day. We use websites like Canvas to remind us of our assignments and strengthen the communication between me and my professors. Online is where I can check my grades to make sure I am doing well and view my past assignments any time I want. We often watch educational videos in my classes to strengthen our knowledge of the topics that are required.

To help me be more successful in my classes, I use personal learning networks. Some of my favorites are Canvas, Word, email, and Goodnotes. I use Canvas to check my grades and stay on top of my assignments and their due dates; I especially like their "calendar" tab and how it is organized on their website. I use Word and Goodnotes to take my notes and study. During class I type my notes on a word document and then hand write them on my iPad using the app Goodnotes to help me study. I also rely on email to help support my academic career by being able to communicate with my peers and professors. Through email, I can clear up and questions or misunderstandings about a topic that will help me understand the material better.

  1. Hey Sara! I enjoyed your thoughts, and as someone who may be an educator in the future, I appreciate your ideas on technology and its place in the classroom. I agree that communication is key and believe that ideally, students should always have an avenue to talk to their teacher about anything that might be bothering them. I have never used Goodnotes, but it does seem more organized compared to the blank google docs i might use for notes. Have a great day and a great semester!
